On Flying Free

I've been trying to name this latest painting of mine and the first word that comes to mind every time I think about it is “Freedom”. Or maybe “Flying Free”.
It seemed a tad unromantic and a lot unoriginal at first but it stuck around so I guess it stays.
There's all sorts of different kinds of freedom. You know. Freedom from chains and freedom from fears. Freedom from pain or freedom from the Missouri heat. Freedom from sad times or tough times or scary times or trapped times or freedom from having to do the dishes.
Or the freedom that's like flying. Where the earth things haven't disappeared but they aren't keeping you grounded either. Where you don't have very much figured out but Someone does.
Which reminds me of a quote a friend told me once.
“Comparison is the thief of personality.”
Maybe its comparison that holds us down to the earth things and keeps us from flying. Because the ones in flight don't seem to be weighted by my weights. So I'd better figure them out before I try flying free.
And while we're busy noticing how the rest fly, we forget that we have our own beautiful way to fly and goodness, we can't all fly the same flight. If we do, there'll be holes in the sky where we were meant to be soaring and crowds where we were meant to not. And all the beautiful, quirky parts of our personality will be lost somewhere between.
I hope you can fly free today, even if the earth things below aren't all figured out. Afterall, Someone has them figured for you.
Thanks for being here.
